The Analects, the Tao Te Ching, the Zhuangzi, and the tradition that grew around them.
Confucianism and Taoism shaped Chinese ethics, politics and spirituality for more than two thousand years. Here the canon is arranged as the tradition teaches it: the Confucian Four Books and Five Classics, then the Tao Te Ching and the Zhuangzi. Each links to the Chinese Text Project, which offers original text beside English translation, and to James Legge's public-domain translations. The section also lists journals such as Dao and the Journal of Chinese Philosophy, universities with strong Chinese philosophy programmes, digitisation work, and a Community page covering jobs, fellowships, conferences and societies. Independent community organisations are fewer and are noted honestly.
